They Crept In Subtly

Updated: Jun 19, 2022

We have spoken about some of these things in the previous articles but it is heavy on my heart to dive deeper, to alert you, and to help you understand just how cunning and manipulating that our enemy is. The spiritual army that fights against us would have us to believe that they are stupid and ignorant but yet, that they are also ferociously powerful. None of this could be farther from the truth. The army of darkness that we fight against are very intellectual and knowledgeable entities, who can only do to us what God allows and by what we allow through opening doors to them. All those scary movies you watched as a teen about the demonic entity that could not come into the house without first asking and the person saying yes, is very true for the spiritual world. Be careful who and what you allow in.

Part of their strategy is to send their own workers masquerading as workers of Christ. We are warned in 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” This is why it is so important for you to read and study the word for yourselves, while allowing the Holy Spirit to teach you all things.

Remember the warning in 2 Corinthians 11:3-4, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that comes preaches another Yeshua, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.”

Starting in Genesis 3:1, we are introduced to the serpent and told of his characteristics. “Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yes, has God said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

We must have an understanding of the word subtle in this passage to fully comprehend the serpents “character”. It is translated from the word arum, it means prudent, crafty, and wise. The serpent did not get Eve to sin by saying “eat this tasty fruit”, no, he started off with a question that filled her head with doubt. “Has God said that you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

The commandment was given back in Genesis 2:16-17, God had told Adam that of every tree in the garden, he could freely eat from but of the tree of good and evil, you should not eat from it. For in the day that you do, you will surely die.

We then see in Genesis 3:2-3, Eve reiterates God's commandment to the serpent, saying that they may eat of the fruit of all the trees in the garden but of the one tree in the middle of the garden, they were not to even touch it, least they should surely die. Then the serpent speaks again insinuating that God is a liar, “You shall not surely die.” He then continued with a line to make Eve believe that God was hiding important information from her, “For God knows that the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

In Genesis 3:6, Eve looked upon the tree and saw that it was good food, and pleasant to the eyes. It was a tree desired to make one wise, so she took of it and ate and she gave to her husband and he did eat. Then, the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked.

SUBTLY, this is how the serpent snared Eve and got her to sin. Take a break and go to your Bibles, read this passage for yourself. It is imperative that you understand how Eve was deceived and pay close attention to the serpent's character. How many ways can you see this same play at work today in your lives, the lives of others, and in the world at this very moment?

“YOU SHALL BE AS GODS”, this was translated from the word Elohim, meaning divine ones, judges, rulers, God-like, angels, and God. I do not know about many of you but this same line seems way too eerily familiar to some of the celebrity teachers I have heard preach. Ones who say that “God can only beget little gods, and therefore you are like God and can call things into existence because you have His power within you”. Or another one I have heard from celebrity pastors, “When I read I AM that I AM, I say to myself, well I AM too”.

These snares by the wolves that the enemy has sent out comes when we do not take the time to study and understand scriptures. One scripture used for this nonsense is John 10:34, “Is it not written in your law, I said, you are gods?” Lets back up to verses 10-32 where Christ was making a claim to his deity. He even angered the religious leaders by stating that he and the Father are one. In verse 33, unbelieving Jews were ready to stone him, charging him with blasphemy.

So then in verse 35, Christ was quoting a line from Psalm 82. Since it is only 8 verses long, let's read that Psalm. “God stands in the congregation of the mighty; he judges among the gods. How long will you judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked. Selah. Defend the poor and the fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and the needy. Deliver the poor and the needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. They know not, neither will they understand; They walk on in darkness; all of the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, you are gods, and all of you are children of the most high. But you will die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all nations.”

Some scholars say that “gods” in this passage is referring to angelic judges but the general scholar consensus is that when the entire Psalm is taken in context, that gods in this passage is referring to earthly judges that are over the people. The only place I have found anyone to take this passage as a reference that men are little gods with god-like power is that being taught by the wolves.

Back to John 10:36-38, Our savior said, “If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and scripture can not be broken; say you of him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent into the world, you blaspheme, because I said I am the son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though you believe me not, believe the works: that you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I am in Him.”

Notice in Psalm 82, the psalmist says, “you are gods, and all of you are children of the most high”. I think Yeshua was making several points here, the important one being that the law referred to men of authority and prestige as gods, so how much greater was one whom the Father Himself has chosen and sent? Therefore, where did he blaspheme by saying that he was the Son of God? Sadly the truth did not penetrate his opponents hearts and they picked up stones to stone him.

Another reference used to assert this absurdity is made concerning Moses being a god back in Exodus 7:1-2, “And the Lord said unto Moses, see, I have made you a god to pharaoh; and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet. You shall speak all that I command you: and Aaron your brother shall speak to pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.”

This verse was not suggesting that Moses was indeed being given god-like power or that he was in any way equal to God, but that he was being given authority over pharaoh. Moses did not have this authority because he was begotten or created by God but because God had chosen for a time to give him this authority.

God was making a comparison to His authority over people and how His prophets speak what they have heard Him say. He was telling Moses that in this manner, he would have this position over Aaron and Aaron will have the position of being his prophet. We see this authority over pharaoh from when Moses would raise his staff and the plagues would either come or go on Egypt. This was not done by the authority of Moses', it was done by Moses' obedience and surrender to God's authority over him. Our Father Yahuah was still God over all, he did not give up or share that position and authority, he was instead using that authority through a man who was being obedient to his word.

I have heard wolves preaching that have stated that, “When God placed Adam in the garden, he breathed life into him; and Adam became a mini-god. He was of the god class. A dog brings forth that of the dog kind, cattle of the cattle kind, and God brings forth that of the god kind. We are all gods.”

Keep in mind that the kind of gods they are teaching that every believer is are NOT the ones referenced in Psalm 82. The one they speak of are much more similar to the lie told to Eve in the garden. They are telling people that you are like God. You share in His creative power. All you have to do is show/activate your faith by transferring your wealth to their bank account and you can unlock the mysterious hidden powers of your god-like abilities. And to think that all Eve had to do to unlock her god-like powers was eat the fruit from a tree.

But lets consider this reasoning for a moment. If Adam became like God because God breathed life into his nostrils and not created but begot him, then would not everything that the heavenly Father created be considered a mini god? Lastly, this wolf is suggesting that by breathing air into Adam's nostril's that Jehovah had transferred His power and authority. Scripture never states that. Instead it says that Adam was given authority over all the earth and everything that swam in the water, every foul of the air, every beast of the earth, every creeping crawling thing, and over all the fields. No where will you find scripture that says that God shares His authority with the man that He created.

First, it is important that the one studying realizes that the angels were created before the earth was created for man. This can be read in Job 38:4-7.

In Isaiah 14:12-17, “How you have fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, which did weaken all nations. For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the most high. Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see you shall narrowly look upon you, saying, is this the man that made the earth tremble, that did shake the kingdoms, that made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opens the house of his prisoners”

Did you catch why Satan was thrown out of heaven? The exact same lie he convinced Eve of is the same lie he is still telling people today, and it is the same lie that he once told himself, “I will be like God”. Satan is the Oprah of the spiritual world, except instead of handing out cars, he is handing out God like authority. We also see a form of this same lie from those who blindly claim there is no God and they take that position and authority in their own lives and wonder why they feel a deep distant dark emptiness and nothing works out as miraculous as they had imagined it would.

In Luke chapter 10, Yeshua had appointed 70 and sent them out by twos into every city. He tells them that the harvest is great but the laborers are few; that he sends them forth as lambs among wolves. He gives them instructions to take nothing and salute no man along the way. He further tells them how to tell which house to abide in and which not to, and those that do not receive them to shake the dust from their shoes.

Then in verse 17, the 70 had returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the devils are subject to us in your name”. Notice that they did not claim that it was by their name, but Yeshua's.

In verse 18, Yeshua replies, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.” He then continues in verse 19 by stating that he gives believers power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.” So one must ask, by whose name is this authority given, your own? No. It is the name of our Christ and savior, Yeshua.

In Ezekiel 28:2, “Son of man, say to the prince of Tyrus, this says the Lord God, because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you are a man and not God, you set your heart as the heart of God:” The following verses go on to tell about how this prince will be destroyed, then in verse 9, “Will you yet say before him that slays you, I am God? But you shall be a man and no God, in the hand of him that slays you.”

This chapter then goes on in verses 12-19, to speak against the king of Tyrus, which many scholars believe these verses are either comparing the human king to Satan or possibly alluding to Tyrus being possessed by Satan. Tyrus was known to receive its wealth by exploiting its neighbors. It was the center of sexual immorality and idol worship.

As we see, Yahuah is not humored by anyone trying to assert His authority or sit in His position. Instead, it angers Him.

Many scriptures tell us that Satan is walking around seeking who he may devour, Job 1:6-12; 1 Peter 5:8; 2 Corinthians 11:3. He has used the same scheme throughout generations and it always seems to work, “You shall be like/as God.”

Following are some more verses which clearly state that we are in no way equal with God, or do we possess His creative power. We can not call anything into being.

Isaiah 29:16- Shall the potter equal the clay?

Isaiah 43:10- There was no God before me, neither shall there be after me

Isaiah 45:5- I am the Lord and there is none else, there is no God beside me

Psalm 86:10- God alone is God

2 Samuel 7:22- There is none “like” God and none beside God

We see in 2 Corinthians 2:3-4, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself to be God.”

In Revelation 13:1-4, we read about a beast that rises up out of the sea having seven heads and ten horns, and ten crowns upon each horn; and upon his heads were the name “blasphemy”. The beast was like unto a leopard, his feet like a bear; his mouth as the mouth of a lion, and the dragon gave him power, and his seat, and great authority. And one of his heads were wounded unto the death; and his deadly wound was healed; and all the earth wondered after the beast. And they worshiped the dragon, which gave power to the beast, saying, who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?

Verses 5-8, “There was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given to him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth to blaspheme against God and to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over every kindred, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell on the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

1 John 2:22, “Who is a liar but he that denies that Yeshua is the Christ? He is an anti-christ, that denies the Father and the Son.”

So we have read that the anti-christ will come proclaiming to be be God, setting himself up in the temple as God. All whose names are not in the book of life will worship him. Satan has had a long history of identity theft and his one main target of obsession has been Yahuah. He has been so deeply set on it that he has even sent forth his wolves to devour the sheep by convincing them that they too can be God.

We have seen stated very clearly that we are not little gods, we are not mini gods, we do not carry any part of God's authority or position. Yes, we are made in His image but we only have the authority that He gives us through the name of our savior. Even Christ told us in John 14:13 that there was an order to things. He said “ask anything in my name and I will do it”. So we ask in his name and then he does it, not us.

Yeshua said that with faith, we could move mountains, cast out demons, and heal the sick. But faith in what? By faith in him, by using his name and his authority. (Mark 11:23-26; 16:15-18; Luke 10:19-20; Matt 10:5-8, 17:19-21, 21:21)

We see in Acts 19:13-16 what happens to people who use the name of Christ without faith in who he is or in his authority. These seven sons of Sceva thought they were real smart trying to cast out an evil spirit in the name of “Yeshua that Paul preaches”. The evil spirit jumped them and they ran from the house naked and wounded.

Look at it this way. Say a master has servants and he makes one servant head over all the other servants, this does not equal him giving the servant his seat or his authority. He simply delegated a responsibility to him and gave him the authority to get the task done.

Being the living, breathing temple of Yahuah and having His spirit dwell in us, does not equal shared authority or little god/mini god authority. This ideal is blasphemous and false.

(1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:16-19; 2 Timothy 1:14; Acts 6:5; Romans 8:9-15; 1 John 2:27) We can not call anything into existence. We ask in the authority and name of our savior, and our savior does it. Because our God is not a God of chaos but a God of order.
